Showtime Announcement Service now available for
Movie Theaters in the US
Use Keypad Browser service to announce show times and other information
to callers over the telephone. It is quick and easy to use. Callers
navigate a list of messages by using their telephone keypad to go
forward or back through the list of messages at their own pace.
Keypad Browser technology makes it possible to add advertising without
annoying callers. Advertise popcorn, upcoming shows, and
holiday hours.

What is Keypad
Browser™ technology?
Keypad Browser technology is an audio user interface
to information systems.
Why audio?
An audio user interface is important because it does not
require eyesight. Activities which require eyesight
compete
with each other for our time. Hearing provides an alternate path for
information to flow to the brain. This alternate path provides
opportunity for people to put limited time to greater use.
How does it
work?
It works by imitating the process of reading. The process of reading is
different than the process of converting text to speech. The process of
reading has to do with the way people use their eyes to scan a page of
text.
We read by moving our eyes to the next word, sentence, or
paragraph on the page. Text is graphically divided into ideas using
capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and other formatting.
Keypad Browser technology imitates the process of reading by dividing
continuous speech into blocks of speech. Each block represents an idea,
similar to a sentence or paragraph. The user decides when to listen to
the next block.
When we read, we have control over the process by virtue of the fact
that we have control over the movement of our eyes. Keypad Browser
technology gives users control of the system by waiting for
user
input before playing the next block of speech.
It is also possible to imitate the process of writing. Users can record
their own speech into blocks of ideas. Blocks can be inserted,
modified, and deleted.
From a computer science point of view, each block of speech represents
a state of the system. Users control the system
by selecting
the state.
What can you
do
with it?
The technology is a general purpose interface. There are many
different markets and applications which could benefit from it.
For example, the system could be used to search for desired
information. A caller could say "Pizza, Pleasant Grove, Utah".
The system could take this spoken input and generate a list
of
pizza places in that city, along with some advertising.
Another example is to implement an audio version of email. The system
would use its ability to imitate the processes of reading
and writing to make the application more user friendly.
Is the
technology patented?
Keypad Browser technology is patented, see U.S. patent number
6,862,344. Breathe new life into your old audio
interface by taking advantage of available licensing opportunities.
